Semply Put The Assay of a Gold Mind

Semply Put: The Assay of a Gold Mind by Steve E. Masters is a deeply personal poetry collection blending faith, family, and social commentary with an authentic voice rooted in Compton. Masters moves between playful vernacular and reverent prayer, celebrating his wife and children while calling out hypocrisy and injustice. He tackles prostate health, Hollywood pretension, geopolitical critique, and loss with humor and vulnerability. The “assay” metaphor—testing gold for purity—reflects his belief that life refines character.
